Reuscher-Haart 1989 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese
Medium golden color. Developed nose which smells intensely of flowers and honey. There is also a hint of petrol and ripe succulent peach in this Riesling Spätlese from the famed Piesporter Goldtröpfchen vineyard in Germany's Mosel valley.
It is sweet, but balanced by high acidity. The alcohol is low. Very low: 7.5%. Enough to carry through the ripe peach and mineral flavors. It has aged very well: residual sugar, acidity and flavors are in beautiful balance. After the initial ripe peach fruit flavors the Goldtröpfchen slowly shows orange peel and finally reveals its mineral character over a long length. A beautifully aged Spätlese which can easily spend another five years in bottle.
