Württemberg

Country:
Germany

Württemberg and Ahr are the only two wine regions in Germany which produce more red than white wine - 71.4% in 20091. Whereas Ahr's main grape variety is the noble Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Württemberg is the home of the lesser known Trollinger, a grape variety with high acidity that can produce good wines but all too often is vinified into a light wine with little character to satisfy the thirst of the Schwaben (Württemberg has the highest per capita wine consumption in Germany).
