Ravines 2007 Gewurztraminer
The 2007 was Ravines' first vintage of Gewurztraminer. It was a test vintage of only 25 cases, sold solely at their tasting room. It is a very refreshing wine, something which can't be said of many Gewurztraminers. The pleasantly low alcohol and modest spice character leaves all the more opportunity for the minerality to shine through. There is none of the low acidity plumpness that all too often cause an imbalance in wines from this grape variety. Ravines' Gewurztraminer is vibrant and very elegant. Unfortunately, only 25 cases were made.
Pale straw color with a pinkish hue. Clean, youthful nose with a medium(+) intensity of lychee, bay leaf, rose petals and a perumed overtone. It is dry on the palate and has a medium(+) acidity, medium alcohol and medium body. Medium intensity of grapefruit, lychee, minerality and spices. Medium(+) length. Drink now through 2015.
