Weingut Peter Lauer is located in Ayl, a small village near the river Saar, where Peter Lauer and son Florian produce Riesling (and Riesling only) from 8 ha of predominantly steep vineyards. The Ayler Kupp is sloped up to 70%, the Schonfels even up to 90%! Although not certified organic, the Lauers avoid chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides in their vineyards.
The estate has been owned by the Lauer family since 1830 and some of the vines that produce the Riesling we are drinking today are over 100 hundred years old.
