The fruit for this non-vintage sparkling wine comes from the excellent 2009 vintage. The Sekt of Peter Lauer is made using the méthode champenoise (i.e. fermentation in the bottle) and hand-riddled (i.e. the Lauers spent a significant amount of time in the cellar). The result is simply gorgeous.
The aroma is complex but also very delicate. Notes of apple, grapefruit and bread crust. Dry on the palate. Elegant bitter grapefruit flavors, just a touch of spices and a pleasantly soft and creamy mousse. Long length with a very mineral finish.
Stunning sparkling wine from the banks of the Saar river in Germany's Mosel region.
In short:
Excellent
