We should not expect a complex Riesling under $15. But then, some cheap Rieslings are better than other cheap Rieslings.
Inexpensive Riesling made by reputable winemakers can be an excellent value for the little money they cost. The grapes for the less expensive wines may be from younger vines and may be grown on less favorable parcels of the vineyards, but they are getting the same good care in the vineyard and are treated with equal responsibility in the winery as the estate's top wines.
