B50NEU - bridge insanity in the Mosel valley

After the most recent events in the Mosel valley the world must have a gloomy view of Germany's mental state. The B50NEU autobahn bridge will cut straight through the Mosel valley. Leading international wine writers came to Germany to protest the bridge.

The Mosel is a unique wine region with wines just as distinct as the soils they are grown in. Mosel Riesling is a piece of German culture, esteemed throughout the world. It is Riesling's home. Nevertheless, the Germans decided to build a monstrous bridge right through it. A bridge that seems to serve nothing but the vanities of politicians and the wallets of the construction companies. Many (amongst them Katharina Prüm, Ernst Loosen, Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson) fear that the bridge will damage some of the best vineyards (Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Bernkasteler Doctor, Graacher Himmelreich) and destroy the beauty of the Mosel valley.

It is a shame - but it is not too late yet. There is still a chance to stop the insanity. Please consider signing the official online petition against the bridge, to be presented to the German parliament in mid May. Thank you.
