The Pündericher Marienburg Falkenlay Riesling Spätlese has a beautiful deep golden color. Pronounced intensity of dried apricot and hay/straw. Dry on the palate, high acidity, medium(+) alcohol and full body with a soft mouthfeel. Concentrated flavors of apricot jam, pepper, bay leaf and honey. Long length that reveals the wine's mineral character and finally ends in a grand sweet finish.

An incredibly dense and sturdy Riesling but I should note that it never feels heavy or plump. It actually is quite an elegant wine with a striking balance of pronounced flavors that taste like a painting of Rembrandt and an acidity that provides a light and airy structure.

Clemens Busch's Pündericher Marienburg Falkenlay Riesling Spätlese is another fine example of how impressively the Mosel's 2004 Rieslings have developed. The 2004 vintage, sandwiched between the freaky 2003 vintage and the super-elegant 2005 vintage, has been neglected a bit but at this point
