I can't say that the aroma of the 2009 Mudd West Vineyard Tocai Friulano immediately grabbed my intention. The nose is rather subdued with light florals and a hint of grapefruit and oak.
It is dry on the palate and has a medium acidity. The alcohol is pleasant at 12.5%. Grapefruit flavors with mild spices over a medium(+) length. It was fermented in stainless steel and old oak, the latter adding just a touch of spice. It became more interesting after it had warmed up a bit in the glass. The fruit was fresher and more pronounced. Drink now through 2013.
Made from 100% Tocai Friulano grown on the North Fork of Long Island.
