Oh no.

I thought I only like terroir wines.

I thought I only like wines that have typicity.

I thought I only like wines which are "made in the vineyard", not those that were "crafted" in the winery.

And then this.

A blend of six different white wine grapes, from different vineyard sites.

Channing Daughters' Mosaico 2008 isn't what I would call spectacular on the nose: a little bit flowery, a little bit of apple. A little bit of citrus peel. All very nice and lovely but really nothing spectacular.

But it's really nice.

Dry on the palate. Medium acidity and alcohol. The flavor is primarily apple, but with a hint of elder flowers. And the flavor of biting into ripe grapes. I can taste the flavor of grapes long after I swallowed the wine. Finally, the Mosaico ends in a light mineral finish.

Very elegant dry wine with a strength that lies in its nuances. It will enhance any dining experience. The Mosaico—a table wine from The Hamptons, Long Island—may be a patchwork of grape varieties, but it manages to allow each of the varieties to have its own little voice.

The voices: 32% Pinot Grigio, 29% Chardonnay, 14% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Muscat Ottonel, 7% Tocai Friulino, 6% Gewürztraminer.

I have enjoyed several Channing Daughters lately and also wrote about their 2010 Ramato, 2008 Meditazione and the Over and Over Variation Four, amongst others.

In short:
Very good
