Anthony Road 2008 Riesling Dry

[page-title]

Light straw color. The aroma is very typical Finger Lakes: citrus fruit, slightly candied pear, flowers. The aroma has a medium intensity and a nice touch of minerality. It is dry on the palate, but with a hint of residual sugar that balances the crisp acidity perfectly. I intentionally did not look at the IRF sweetness scale on the back label as I wanted to see if my perception of dryness/sweetness agrees with that of the scale. In this case the scale's little arrow is just a bit to the right of "dry", indicating a hint of residual sugar. Perfect. The alcohol level at 12.4% is well integrated and pleasant, giving this wine overall a medium body. There is grapefruit, tangerine, red apple and minerality on the palate. Medium(+) length. Drink now through 2015.

Perfectly balanced and very harmonious Riesling with an unusual complexity in this price range. It also has a fairly long length which one rarely finds in a $15 wine.

In short:
Very good
